Clary Sage essential oil is commonly referred to as “woman’s oil” on account of it’s uncanny ability sooth the mental and physical symptoms of menopause and menstrual cramps. Where does Clary Sage originate from?

Native to the Mediterranean, North Africa, Asia and parts of Europe this short lived herbaceous perennial has been used throughout history for its medicinal properties. Used in conjunction with the ancient practice of Ayurveda to help balance the mind and body the powerful healing quality and mystical charm of this oil, should not be underestimated. The leaves and buds of the Salvia sclarea are steam distilled to extract Clary Sage essential oil.

If you have tired eyes, use a compress - a flannel dipped in a solution warm water and a couple of drops of Clary Sage oil should suffice. Make sure to squeeze the flannel and close your eyes before placing the compress across the eye area. This will help relieve tired and strained eyes - a perfect remedy to all that screen time!

Another way that Clary Sage can help with your vision is by opening up your third eye. Aura Cleansing Mist

It’s not always east or appropriate to carry smudging sticks with you, and even less easy to smudge in places with sensitive smoke detectors. However, this aura cleansing mist is a great substitute and is basically like carrying a sacred altar in your bag. If you’re travelling, this aura spray is a great addition to your hand luggage. The energy in the blended oil will help disperse and negative vibes and will help cleanse any space of bad juju. It’s also great to use when a friend or family member is feeling less than their best self.

Add the following ingredients to a 50ml spray bottle and roll between your hands to blend the ingredients thoroughly. Fill to the top with distilled water and voila, your aura cleansing mist is ready to use. This blend will last roughly 5 days, but If you want to make it last longer, replace the water with organic oil, which will act as a preservative,

  • 6 drops Clary Sage oil
  • 12 drops Mandarin oil
  • 6 Drops Rose Geranium oil
  • 3 drops Cinnamon oil

The use of Bergamot oil in this blend helps to balance the psyche, while the Clary Sage essence is thought to help open the third eye. Combined with the sedative impact of Jasmine essential oil you’re bound to feel calm and collected in no time at all.

Add the oils to a small bottle, and roll between your hands to blend the oils completely, before adding to an oil burner or diffuser. Sit back, relax and breathe deeply.

  • 8 drops Bergamot oil
  • 4 drops Clary Sage oil

Anything to note

Avoid during pregnancy as Clary Sage can bring on contractions. Clary Sage is a stimulant and a euphoric and cause drowsiness, so use with caution. As always, do not ingest your essential oils, keep out of reach of children and store in a cool, dark place.
